Finard Properties and Millcreek Realty presented a $750 scholarship to Matthew Duranleau from South Portland High School.  Matthew placed 5th in his class will attend Northeastern University and major in civil/environmental engineering.  Matthew was also awarded the Colby Book Award, World Language Honor Society and excellence in earth science award.

With nearly 90,000 votes cast by the people of Maine, The Bangor Savings Bank Foundation will donate $100,000 to 68 Maine-based non-profit organizations throughout the State.  Congratulations to the following “Community Matters More” winners in the Greater Portland/Lewiston/Auburn areas: $5,000 winner is Preble Street, $1,000 winners are The Boys & Girls Clubs of Southern Maine, Coastal Studies for Girls, Family Ice Center, Learning Works, Northeast Hearing & Speech, The Public Theatre, Maine State Music Theatre and Maine Society of Protection of Animals. The Mill Creek branch office of Bangor Savings Bank is participating in giving back to Maine communities.  The bank is focusing on the needs that matter most to its neighbors.  The foundation gives a total of $100,000 to local non-profit organizations through out the state of Maine.  What is unique about this program is that the community assists the bank by deciding how best to distribute the funds.  They invite neighbors, friends and colleagues to participate.  Cast your vote today .  Voting ends March 7, 2011. A total of 68 grants will be awarded to the organizations listed on the ballot and to the top 20 write-in vote recipients (at least two write-ins per region).  The top vote-getting organizations in each region (including write-ins) will receive $5,000 each.  The remaining 60 organizations will receive $1,000 each.  Stop into the local branch or cast your vote on line today.
